The piece draws from former German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s address to the Bundestag (German Parliament) in August 2021, delivered in response to the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan. The speech, presented as rolling end credits, unfolds alongside iconic German pop songs. By reconfiguring linear and sequential narratives through sonic and visual strategies, the piece challenges established frameworks of meaning and interpretation.
